The Haunted Wardrobe

Ian hated old houses. On some occasions the house they were staying in would have a grandfather clock, which made a loud bong when it struck whatever time it was. This time there wasn't one, but there was a rather curious wardrobe, which he found himself drawn to.

What he found inside was disgusting.

There was a sticky glue-like substance dripping everywhere and a see-through person inside the wardrobe.

"Excuse me. Who are you?" Ian said in a shaky voice.

"My name is Tom. How about yours?" the ghost replied.

"Ian," Ian stuttered. "I'm sorry to disturb you."

"It's not your fault. It's happened before, I'm used to it."

"I'll just shut the door then," Ian said politely.

As he slept in his room that night, he thought about the ghost's words. Maybe he was one of the friendly sort. He decided he would go back the next morning.

The next day he went to the wardrobe and knocked lightly on the door.

"Go away!" the ghost said through the door.

Ian was a bit nervous: maybe the ghost wasn't a morning person?

"Do you like doing things that I like doing?" Ian said bravely.

"I like playing tricks on people," said the ghost shyly.

"I like doing that too," Ian replied.

"Would you like to join up?" said the ghost.

"Sure. We will start today," said Ian.

The first prank they pulled was on Ian's father Graham, when they put a tomato on his chair as he was about to sit down. Over the two weeks his family stayed there, it was so much better than he had expected – and it was all because of Tom!When he finally left, as he looked behind at the house, he saw Tom waving good bye from the chimneypots. He had had the best time of his life.

Good ghost story. I'm glad it wasn't scary.
